Semantics of Programming languages are a difficult thing, which in turn puts large companies with capital to spend at an advantage. Gone are the days when it was the navy vs. IBM vs. college and university chairholders. Until now it has been proved time and again that in the long run successful innovative influence comes mostly from below the line activities as opposed to large committees and the likes of the Empire. Nevertheless as proven by various members of the Rebel Alliance (not least Rebol) these activities are always in danger to go amiss. For a while I had the false hope that the C language semantics would be an episode. That hope was doubly false. The various bindings of syntax and semantics in PHP, Java and Javascript are nicely adapted. Smalltalkers refrain from accepting this till today. If u want to follow with little effort, I can only recommend LNGR as Numero uno filter system. It seems I'm too lazy to really build my LaH Topic. I fear I gotta study The Gang of Four's Design Patterns once more, and seriously this time. Even PHP 5 models its new object model according to it. Or we take it the easy way: invite Brian Foote over and hold a workshop.

Die Serie war wirklich toll. Ich hoffe auf Staffel 2 und natürlich darauf, dass auch diese hier gezeigt wird. Ich werde mal in schauen, wenn ich in Israel bin, ob es dort die DvD zu einem erschwinglichen Preis gibt.
