1984 AT&T Unix Prices

StefanL, 29.11.05, 23:52

You wll find them (pdf) on Dennis Ritchie's pages who got them from one Herr Kleine in Jena. Small wonder Unix didn't make it in the 80ies for affordable computing outside a campus.

Remembering IANA

StefanL, 09.08.04, 19:08

war der Titel des Nachrufs von Mr. Cerf auf Mr. Postel. Mann war der gut. Der Postel natürlich. Nur wegen meiner Wochenendlektüre: http://www.postel.org/remembrances/cohen-story.html ftp://ftp.isi.edu/in-notes/rfc2468.txt l.com has got a good link most of the time: Read this on Amazon and Bezos.

The machine was developed in response to the needs of Mary Brazier, a neurophysiologist at MIT who needed better laboratory tools, and it was a followup to the Average Response Computer, an 18...

How Americans do it

StefanL, 27.10.02, 11:34

A quote from The Long Strange Trip to Java (see below, thx Chris): "The next few months were very hectic as James (Gosling) and Mike (Sheridan) and I (Patrick Naughton) worked through just what this project would be. We worked long hours on weekends writing up notes about how we could create something that was truly new in such a crowded...
