Hocus Pocus

Since the olden times of the late 40ies when irreverent authors in novel novels launched the s-word its use has been multiplied by internet discussion groups and boards and has since reached one climax after the other inside composite com machines that go by names like tweeter and visagebook. Even barbary coast governments have had a hard time surviving.

It would seem Kurt Vonnegut jr. did not like the term at all. So when he wrote a really long longform story that extensively involves a past and not so happily remembered engagement of all arms of the armed services of the old republic (US of A) and had to cope with all the s'es good old Charlie seemed to be able to whip up out of nothing and leading up to the end of that particular hassle, he simply invented a new expression, that has been one of our favorites ever since: "when the excrement hit the air conditioning".

Profanity and non-profanity alike are double edged swords as language is, spoken, written, universally.
