Waxing Wampeter Again?

It is not hard to know what the waning wampeter of our karass is. But I fucking have not the slightest fucking idea what the fucking waxing wampeter of that fucking karass is.

Durchblick

bei Menschen unter 30 fand und finde ich schrecklich, weil einen das zwar kurz erfreut, sie dann aber so anstrengend sind und einem, obwohl man ein alter, fast schon resignierter, fast schon kynischer Hund ist, dauernd die Welt und universale Verbesserungsmöglichkeiten erklären mögen. Und das blöde dabei ist, dass sich diese jüngeren Menschen oft noch bei verschiedensten Sachen besser auskennen als man selbst und leider auch immer wieder mit irgendetwas recht haben.

Um zu illustrieren, wie sehr man sich dann in der Birne anstrengen muss, um da nur irgendwie mitzuhalten, zitiere ich mich selbst. Mein herzallerliebstes Töchterlein bloggt nämlich und hat daselbst einmal dem "4 things ..." dings nicht wiederstehen können. Und das nur, weil ihr ihr damaliger Freund erfolgreich gedrückt hat, dass das 4dings-dings ein Mem sei, irgendwie. Von einer der Städte, in denen die Gute gelebt hat, wusste sie den Namen nicht mehr, kein Wunder, sie war dort gerade mal ungefähr 0 Jahre alt. Jedenfalls war ich deswegen aufgefordert zu antworten, was ich in 4 Absätzen, von den ich hier 3 zitiere, als guter Tate tat:

a) Der Ort hieß und heißt Valenciennes. Du hast dort pränatal von Septemer bis Dezember '80 und postnatal von Ende Jänner bis Ende Juni '81 gelebt (und wärest dazwischen fast dort geboren geworden).

b) ...lass ich aus, weils nich herpasst.

c) Wenn Du mal Zeit hast, schau Dir bitte mal Lisa Randall an. Ein Stringgegengewicht zu Carver Mead. Ich hab ein Spiegelinterview mit ihr (online leider 0,50€), das ich Dir gerne borge. Ich will nicht stresssssen!!!!!, aber spätestens Ende April muss ich mit einer Frau darüber reden und ich kenn sonst leider keine, mit der ich über Endlosschleifen in den Biopuffern kaputter Transporter reden kann.

d) Ich für meinen Teil führe seit etwa 3000 Jahren ein MemeBlog, verliere aber dauernd Seiten, Notizen und alles mögliche. Und dann komme ich immer wieder drauf, dass HAHWs (Half Anonymous Hebraic Wikiprophets, aka "Thorny Moishe", aka "The ...ist", aka "The Elohist", aka "Jehoshua" usw.) schon damals die meisten wichtigen Meme in einem primitiven aber ziemlich dauerhaften 22-Zeichen-Codec abgespeichert haben, in diesem blöden eingefrorenen Wiki ohne eingebaute Diskussionseiten (aka Tanach, aka Das Buch). Zum Glück nicht alle. Noch 2 Sachen 4 your amusement:
Mein PKLA (Persönlicher Kontemporärer Liebungs-Aphorismus) z.Z.: XML is Diet Cobol, XSLT is Lisp with Horns ¹. Hab ich persönlich vom Katzenfisch im Memepool.
Das BMAZ (Bestes Mem aller Zeiten): But Love's the Only Engine of Survival. Beachtenswert ist, dass dieser Typ in eben diesem Song behauptet, er hätte die Bibel geschrieben, obwohl alle wissen, dass er zwar von Aaron abstammt, aber eigentlich Kanadier ist. Ich kenn' ihn nicht persönlich und hab' ihn nur 1x aus der Nähe gesehen.

¹ Die semantische Verschlüsselung hier sollte nicht allzuschwer zu knacken sein.

Wer das jetzt alles locker geblickt hat, der ist wahrscheinlich in der Lage, mit diesem unter 30-jährigen Menschen einen netten und spannenden Dialog zu führen. Manchmal kann ich mit ihr auch einfach nur doof blödeln. Danke und Amen. Rutsch gut Inki, rutsch gut Benji!

That is what our first website was called. If I remember it the right way the URL was Tom's idea. Us meant Tom and Claus and Luigi, mostly. And me, a bit. We did Netscape compatible chat client plugins and servers then. That setup could do video ads above and on the side in 1996. We sold it 2 times.

Busy, busy, busy.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. Wrong place, wrong time, wrong station.

URL's gone, Tom probably sold it later on, expensively.

"On the Road" might be a better concept than "On Rails", but then on the road there is more death than on rails. In the air the rails are invisible, but they are there. So what is it then? Come on it's only weak examples. But still, roads won out over rails as a transport infrastructure. Everybody can go on them with nearly no checks at all. They have lots of disadvantages. Still they can go where no rails ever went. And bicycles go even further, nowadays.

Goals vs. Visions
Here is a key quote from alan kay unearthed by motz. I subquote
"By not trying to derive specific goals from this <vision. sl> at the funding side, ARPA/PARC was able to fund rather different and sometimes opposing points of view."

I might add that I hold, there is a time for visions (which I call "desires connected to ideas") and a time for goals (which I call "making steps up the spiral"). Both times or phases are connected to each other and without the other the one does not happen.

Caveats
PARC never really got a product out their doors. Well they did but they flopped, at least in the PARC incarnations.
Please consider that spiral is an image and does not correctly and exactly describe what happens. Every Abstraction introduces at least one small mistake but nevertheless needs to be made. Recursion rulez ok. plink, 8 comments    praise or blame!

Self->value()
Considering your value or, with a different eye, considering yourself as a value is a dangerous thing. It automatically throws you into the fangs of value theory. It also conjures comparison and different scaling methods. All of these are near impossible to control. So, when reflecting yourself, better abstain from value. plink, nix    praise or blame!
